Why One TV Reporter Quit His Job to Become a Full-Time Music Photographer
“I was a TV reporter here for about 10 years. And in the process I would cover music festivals. Photojournalism was something that interested me, so one day I was like, ‘I love doing photography, can I get a photo pass?’ I think it was for Fun Fun Fun Fest. I was immediately hooked. About two years later I decided in the middle of a contract to quit — it probably wasn’t the smartest thing in the world to do, but whatever — and pursue a passion. And that’s what I’ve been doing ever since.” —Charles Reagan (@charles.reagan), a 36-year-old Austin-based music photographer, who shoots concerts both in and outside his hometown (this one here is of Marina and the Diamonds from last year’s Lollapalooza). Make sure to check out his work throughout the summer as he hops around music festivals all over the US.
