Meet Mexican Illustrator El Grand Chamaco’s Cartoon Characters
El Grand Chamaco (@grand_chamaco) grew up in a small Mexican village, isolated from the outside world. “The TV was limited, and only three channels were available — but one was full of cartoons.” That’s where the graphic designer’s animated adventures began. “In the past few years, Mexican artists and designers started to copy some foreign trends,” El Grand Chamaco, who now lives in Monterrey, Mexico, says. “I was sorry we were not appreciating all we have here in Mexico.” His 3-D characters are heavily influenced by the state of Nuevo León and honor the unique vibrancy of his culture.
