We had a range of brands and events launching social media campaigns this week. The Brits Awards took over Twittersphere on Wednesday, along with McVities’ #Sweeet campaign and Mercedes’ #NeverStopChallenging. We also have other Twitter trends doing the rounds, including brands that continue to test new Twitter features. Sit back and enjoy this weekly round up of Twitter campaigns!
McVitie’s, the much loved British biscuit brand unveiled their new #Sweeet iKitten ad this week. They have also released a gaming app that brings the kitten to life if you point your camera to a packet of McVitie’s digestives.
Combining augmented reality with influencer marketing, the brand has brought on board singer George Shelley, among other influencers, to promote the app.

2016 has been touted the year of augmented reality and McVitie’s has definitely got on board!
Everyone in the UK might have had their Television tuned in to the Brit Awards, but the party was at Twitter! Twittersphere was awash with the #Brits and #Brits2016 hashtags, with celebrities and brands tweeting away about the happenings of the night.
We list the best of them:

Mercedes AMG’s’ #NeverStopChallenging
Looks like car brands love a bit of #ContestMarketing. After last week’s Land Rover contest, we have Mercedes AMG’s #NeverStopChallenging, which is urging Twitter users to share a photo about overcoming a challenge. This photo contest is being run on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and promotes the Mercedes-AMG C-63 Coupé. Selected photos will be displayed on Mercedes AMG social channels.

And In Other News:
– We were intrigued by Mastercard’s use of Promoted Tweets. This specific Tweet features no call to action content or link, but simply asks the users to complete a poll. We might be seeing this kind of conversational Tweet element more in the future, as it allows the Twitter user to complete the communication in one single click.

– While most people are probably looking forward to Oscars this weekend (or monday early morning, if you’re in the UK), we’re intrigued by LinkedIn’s first ever TV ad which is set to air during the Academy Awards Ceremony. The ad encourages users to find their dream job using the networking site. We’ll keep a look out for it! Read more about it here.
