One year ago, 24-year-old Charlie Puth (@charlieputh) was playing for fans on the Internet. Now, he’s on tour with a new album, Nine Track Mind, and a few chart-topping singles under his belt; “Marvin Gaye,” and “See You Again” with Wiz Khalifa – which is up for Favorite Collaboration at tonight’s Kids’ Choice Awards.
“I started producing music in 2001 when I got my first synthesizer from my mom and dad. The Korg Triton Studio, which is what Pharrell used — I had it at 11 years old,” says Charlie. “I hear music every day. If I hear a plane going by, the plane might hit a certain note. Like this phone in my hotel is ringing right now, and it’s an F and a B flat.”
